Tying instructions
Secure hook in vise and start thread behind the eye.
Tie in a sparse clump of gold antron at the hook bend, extending one shank-length beyond the bend. This represents the shuck of the emerging mayfly.
Trim the antron to length.
Select pheasant tail barbs and tie them in tip-first at the tie-in point of the antron.
Wrap thread forward to build a tapered body.
Leave the thread at the back of the hook.
Attach hackle pliers to the pheasant tail barbs.
Wrap the pheasant tail barbs forward to create the body, then tie off and trim the excess.
Tie in a light gray CDC tuft at the front of the body to represent the wing.
Pull the wing mostly to length and trim off the excess.
Dub super fine dubbing in light olive to build up the thorax.
Post the wing up.
Whip finish the fly twice.
Snip the thread free.
Trim the wing if needed.
