Tying instructions

  1. Secure the hook in the vise and start the thread just behind the eye.

  2. Wrap the thread down the shank in touching turns to a point well into the bend.

  3. Tie in the olive ultrawire underneath the hook shank.

  4. Tie in a single strand of black Krystal Flash on top of the hook shank.

  5. Advance the thread in touching turns to well into the bend, ensuring the Krystal Flash remains on top.

  6. Reverse the thread direction and wrap back to the thorax position, maintaining touching turns to create a level underbody for the wire.

  7. Wrap the olive ultrawire forward in five touching turns, angling it slightly back, and keeping the turns close together.

  8. Pull the Krystal Flash over the back and trap it with a single turn of the ultrawire.

  9. Pull the Krystal Flash back out of the way for the next five turns of wire.

  10. Repeat the process of wrapping the wire and trapping the Krystal Flash until the thorax position is reached.

  11. Tie off the ultrawire and trim the excess.

  12. Tie in the olive Crinkly Z-Lon on top of the hook shank.

  13. Build a thread thorax.

  14. Pull the Z-Lon over to form the wing case and trap it with thread.

  15. Split the Z-Lon into two halves to form the legs.

  16. Pull the legs back and snip them just back of the thorax.

  17. Whip finish with three turns and add head cement.
