Tying instructions
Secure the hook in the vise. Start black thread behind the eye and wrap to the bend.
Cut a strip of 3mm black foam, about 1/4 inch wide and 2 inches long. Round the rear end.
Tie in the foam strip at the bend, extending the rounded end past the hook bend.
Tie in a length of pearl Krystal Flash and a tuft of white poly yarn at the bend for the underwing.
Dub or tie in peacock herl. Wrap a full body forward to the midpoint.
Fold the foam forward and tie down at the midpoint to form the abdomen section.
Tie in a pair of rubber legs at each side of the midpoint, extending outward.
Continue the dubbed body forward to behind the eye.
Fold the foam forward again and tie down behind the eye for the thorax/head section.
Trim the excess foam in front, leaving a small lip that extends over the eye.
Tie in a small tuft of orange foam or McFlyFoam on top as an indicator.
Whip finish and apply head cement.
