Tying instructions

  1. Slide copper bead onto hook and secure hook in vise.

  2. Start thread behind the bead.

  3. Tie in 3-4 Coq de Leon fibers for the tail, about one shank length.

  4. Wrap thread forward to just behind the bead, creating a smooth body.

  5. Color the thread body with a black marker.

  6. Wrap thread back to the hook bend.

  7. Spin thread clockwise to cord it up.

  8. Rib the body forward with the thread in 5 evenly-spaced turns.

  9. Tie off the thread and cut.

  10. Attach GSP thread behind the bead.

  11. Create a dubbing loop.

  12. Insert a small amount of black dubbing into the loop, about 3/4 inch.

  13. Spin the dubbing loop to create a dubbing noodle.

  14. Wrap the dubbing noodle behind the bead, pulling the CDC fibers back as you wrap.

  15. Tie off the dubbing loop and cut.

  16. Apply UV resin to the body.

  17. Cure the UV resin with a UV light.
