Tying instructions
Secure the hook in the vise.
Start the thread behind the eye and wrap to the bend.
Select 4-5 light colored Coq De Leon fibers.
Even the tips and tie in the tail on top of the hook shank.
Tail should be about the length of the body.
Trim the butt ends of the tail fibers.
Tie in an olive stripped quill on the side of the hook.
Wrap the quill back to the bend with smooth, even wraps.
Tie off the quill at the base of the tail.
Take the thread forward, leaving a little room at the front of the hook.
Strip off most of the lower fibers on an India hen neck feather.
Tie in a wing that is about the length of the body.
Tie in the wing so that the feather splays away from the hook.
Repeat on the opposite side.
Build a small thread dam right behind the wings.
Wrap in between the wings to keep them splayed.
Tie in a black rooster cape hackle at the back of the hook.
Wrap the hackle forward to the wings.
Pull the wings back and lay some wraps in front of them.
Tie off the hackle and trim the excess.
Build a small head.
Whip finish and trim the thread.
