Tying instructions

  1. Secure the Gamakatsu SL45 hook in the vise.

  2. Start the olive thread behind the hook eye and create a thread base along the shank. Trim excess.

  3. Tie in medium black dumbbell eyes slightly behind the hook eye using figure-eight wraps. Secure with several tight wraps.

  4. Wrap the thread rearward to the bend of the hook.

  5. Tie in four olive barred rubber legs at the bend, extending 3/4" to 1" beyond the tie-in point. Pull the forward ends back for later use.

  6. Create a dubbing loop at the rear of the shank and wrap the thread forward to just behind the dumbbell eyes.

  7. Fill the dubbing loop with olive Carp Dub and wrap it forward to form the body. Secure with thread and trim excess.

  8. Dub a thick collar of olive brown SLF dubbing flush with the rear of the dumbbell eyes.

  9. Part the dubbing along the top of the shank and pull the forward-facing rubber legs to the front. Secure with thread and trim excess.

  10. Rotate the fly and tie in a clump of olive rabbit zonker strip hair over the dubbed body. The hair tips should extend just past the hook point.

  11. Whip finish to complete the fly, trim the thread, and apply head cement if desired.
