Tying instructions
Secure the hook in the vise.
Tie in the thread just behind the eye.
Wrap the thread down to about half the shank length (if it were a straight eye hook).
Trim the waste thread.
Dub a slender, slightly tapered abdomen with olive hare dubbing, extending well into the bend of the hook.
Bring the tying thread back to the starting point of the abdomen, using it as a rib.
Stack a small amount of deer hair in a hair stacker, tips facing forward.
Tie in the deer hair wing/shoulder at the 2/3 point, with a wing length of about one hook-shank length.
Trim the butts of the deer hair at an angle, shortest near the base of the wing and longest where the abdomen is.
Wrap the thread closer to the eye of the hook.
Dub the thorax with hare's ear dubbing.
Whip finish with a three-turn whip finish.
Trim the thread.
