Tying instructions
Step 1: Secure the saltwater hook in the vise.
Step 2: Start the monofilament thread at the hook eye and wrap rearward to cover the rear 2/3 of the hook shank.
Step 3: Tie in flat braid or tinsel at the bend of the hook.
Step 4: Wrap the braid forward to the 1/3 shank mark and secure with thread. Trim excess.
Step 5: Trim a clump of brown/tan craft fur, remove the undercoat, and tie it in at the 1/3 mark on top of the shank. The fur should be approximately 2x the shank length.
Step 6: Tie in a few strands of Flashabou over the craft fur.
Step 7: Repeat step 5 with a darker shade of craft fur over the Flashabou.
Step 8: Tie in a clump of craft fur undercoat along the bottom of the hook shank at the rear of the eye, with equal portions extending forward and back.
Step 9: Repeat step 8 along the top of the hook shank.
Step 10: Pull the forward-facing craft fur undercoat backward and secure with thread wraps at the rear of the hook eye.
Step 11: Whip finish and trim the craft fur undercoat to the desired shape.
Step 12: Seal the craft fur head with UV epoxy or head cement.
Step 13: Adhere adhesive eyes with superglue to complete the fly.
