Tying instructions

  1. Apply a small drop of super glue to the middle of the hook shank using a bodkin.

  2. Wrap 6-7 wraps of .015 lead-free wire over the glue in the middle of the shank.

  3. Trim the excess wire using your thumbnail.

  4. Attach the brown UTC 70 thread to the hook shank immediately behind the weight.

  5. Cut off the excess thread.

  6. Secure the fluorescent chartreuse Ultra Wire to the hook shank.

  7. Wrap the tying thread down the bend of the hook to give the pattern a nice curved shape.

  8. Apply a sparse amount of light olive Australian possum dubbing to the thread.

  9. Wrap the dubbing on the hook, covering the last thread wrap, and work your way up the shank of the hook to where the weight begins.

  10. Get a hold of the Ultra Wire and begin making open wraps up the hook, using quite a bit of tension on the wire to enhance the segmentation.

  11. When you get to the bare hook shank, tie the wire off really well and give a couple of turns to break it.

  12. Take a couple of wraps of tying thread to cover up the end.

  13. Whip finish and cut the thread off.

  14. Brush the dubbing out to give the appearance of legs and gills.

  15. Trim any overly large or errant fibers.
