Tying instructions

  1. Place the copper bead on the hook.

  2. Secure hook in vise and start thread behind the hook eye.

  3. Wrap thread back to the hook bend, keeping the thread flat.

  4. Cut a 3-4 inch piece of Flex-Floss Micro Brown, double it over, and tie it in at the bend to create the tails, legs, and antennae. The tails should extend about 1 inch beyond the bend.

  5. Wrap thread forward, keeping the antennae on top of the hook shank.

  6. Whip finish in front of the antennae to help prop them up.

  7. Slide the bead forward over the thread wraps and the Flex-Floss.

  8. Tie in the UTC Perle Micro Chenille Brown by the tip at the hook bend.

  9. Wrap the chenille forward with touching wraps to create the body.

  10. Tie off the chenille behind the bead and trim the excess.

  11. Wrap the thread under the bead to secure the chenille.

  12. Tie in the Fulling Mill Tactical Microflash Dub Rusty Brown to create a collar.

  13. Take two loose wraps to hold the dubbing in place.

  14. Position the legs on either side of the hook.

  15. Take another wrap to secure the dubbing.

  16. Advance the thread in front of the legs.

  17. Whip finish while pulling the front legs back.

  18. Trim the legs to the desired length and split the front legs.
