Tying instructions
Secure the saltwater hook in the vise.
Start the thread at the mid-shank and create a thread base extending to the bend.
Tie in the bead chain eyes along the top of the shank at the rear of the thread base using cross-wraps.
Extend the thread base to the bend of the hook.
Create a 3-4 inch thread loop extending from the bend of the hook.
Wax the loop and fill it with SLF dubbing, then twist to complete the dubbing loop.
Wrap the dubbing loop forward along the shank, wrapping around the bead chain eyes with a figure-eight motion. Secure with thread at the front of the eyes.
Trim the dubbing along the top of the shank to ensure the fly sits hook point up in the water.
Rotate the hook in the vise and tie in a bunch of marabou at the front of the bead chain eyes. The tips should extend 2-3 inches from the tie-in point.
Select a suitable soft hackle feather from an India Hen back and secure it by its stem at the base of the marabou wing.
Wrap the hackle, pulling fibers back with each successive wrap. Secure with thread and trim excess.
Build a neat thread head, whip finish, and trim the thread.
