Tying instructions

  1. Secure the hook in the vise. Start olive thread behind the eye and wrap to the bend.

  2. Tie in an olive rabbit zonker strip at the bend, extending about 1.5 inches past the hook as the tail.

  3. Add 4-6 strands of olive Flashabou along each side.

  4. Dub a tapered body of olive Ice Dub forward to the 1/2 point on the shank.

  5. Pull the zonker strip forward over the body as a wing. Tie down at the midpoint.

  6. Continue dubbing forward to the 1/3 point. Pull the zonker strip forward again and tie down.

  7. Trim the excess zonker strip. Clean, stack, and spin olive deer hair at the front 1/3 of the shank.

  8. Pack the deer hair tightly. Spin additional bunches to fill the head area completely.

  9. Whip finish. Remove from the vise and trim the deer hair into a muddler-style head — flat bottom, rounded top.

  10. Optionally apply 3D stick-on eyes and secure with head cement.
