Even the tips of the hackle barbs from the Whiting Popper Pack and tear off a bunch.
Fold the hackle barbs and try to even up the tips as much as possible.
Measure the hackle barbs and encircle the hook.
Tie in the hackle barbs with a soft loop and tighten.
Trim the excess hackle barbs as short as possible to minimize thorax build.
Tie in the red flash ribbing to the end of the hook shank.
Tie in the ribbing slightly into the bend of the hook.
Take a little bit of black seal's fur.
Dub the seal's fur onto the thread and wrap forward to create the body.
Rib the body with the red flash, using even turns.
Tie off the ribbing.
Fold the hackle barbs back against the eye of the hook.
Secure the hackle barbs with a couple of hard turns of thread.
