Tying instructions

  1. Secure the hook in the vise and start the white thread behind the eye.

  2. Lay down a thread base, running the thread back to just before the bend.

  3. Return the thread to just behind the eye.

  4. Pull apart and align the fibers of Wapsi Crawdub, softshell color, to create a loose yarn.

  5. Fold the yarn in half to create a loop.

  6. Turn the hook over and tie in the loop of Crawdub just behind the eye.

  7. Trim the excess Crawdub.

  8. Turn the hook point down again.

  9. Tie in the Oil Creek Outfitters Crystal Meth braid, peach color, just behind the yolk sac.

  10. Wrap the Crystal Meth braid forward to just behind the eye, keeping the braid taut.

  11. Reverse direction and wrap the Crystal Meth braid back to just behind the yolk sac.

  12. Tie off the Crystal Meth braid and trim the excess.

  13. Tie in a sparse amount of grey Llama Mix on top of the shank.

  14. Trim the Llama Mix to about one shank-length.

  15. Tie in a sparse amount of bronze mallard barbs on top of the Llama Mix.

  16. Trim the bronze mallard barbs to about one shank-length.

  17. Build up a black head with Sparton 6/0 thread.

  18. Whip finish the head and trim the thread.

  19. Coat the head and yolk sac with a thin coat of varnish, then a second coat of heavier varnish.
