Tying instructions
Secure the hook in the vise. Start black thread behind the eye and wrap to the bend.
Select 6-8 grizzly hackle fibers for the tail. Measure to one shank-length and tie in at the bend.
Select one dark and one light moose mane hair fiber.
Tie in both moose mane fibers at the bend, side by side.
Wrap both fibers forward together in touching turns to create a banded body. Tie off at the 2/3 point and trim.
Select two matched grizzly hackle tips for wings. Tie in upright at the 2/3 mark.
Stand the wings with a thread dam and separate with figure-eight wraps.
Tie in a grizzly hackle feather behind the wings.
Wrap the hackle 2-3 turns behind and 2-3 turns in front of the wings. Tie off and trim.
Build a neat thread head. Whip finish and apply head cement.
