Tying instructions
Secure the hook in the vise. Start thread behind the eye.
Wrap thread to the bend, building a smooth foundation.
Tie in a length of fine silver wire at the bend for the rib.
Build a smooth, slightly tapered abdomen with thread wraps from the bend to the midpoint.
Wrap the silver wire rib forward in 4-5 even turns over the abdomen. Tie off and trim.
Select a CDC feather. Tie in at the midpoint with the tips extending rearward as a trailing shuck/wing bud.
Trim the CDC tips to about 2/3 the body length.
Dub a small ball of peacock herl or black Superfine dubbing for the thorax.
Wrap the thorax forward to just behind the eye.
Build a tiny thread head. Whip finish and apply head cement to the thread only.
