Tying instructions

  1. Secure the #4 hook in the vise and start the olive thread behind the eye.

  2. Wrap thread back to the bend to create a thread base.

  3. Tie in the olive marabou tail at the bend, extending one shank length.

  4. Tie in the gold or pearl micro flashabou on top of the marabou.

  5. Tie in the barred marabou on top of the olive marabou/flash stack.

  6. Tie in the black brassie wire at the start of the body

  7. Dub the body with olive brown ice dubbing.

  8. Wrap the olive schlappen forward to create the body hackle.

  9. Counter wrap the black brassie wire forward through the schlappen hackle and tie off.

  10. Tie in the olive sili legs on either side of the hook.

  11. Whip finish, add head cement or super glue to thread if desired.

  12. Cut a 6 inch length of trailer wire and thread through eye of #4 hook and thread on bead. Keep wire straight.

  13. Secure #2 hook in vise, Tie in trailer wire. Tie in lead eyes to ride hook down. Be sure to double wire back over after wrapping forward to secure trailer wire. Add superglue.

  14. Repeat previous steps to create dubbed, hackled body, leaving room for deer hair head, instead of full tail just add 1 barred maribou stack to cover wire.

  15. Tie off and switch to 100d GSP thread.

  16. Cut pencil width of deer hair and stack on tips, taking out shorter and guard hairs. Tie in collar.

  17. Spin, stack, and pack the sculpin olive late season deer hair with tips cut off to create the rest of head.

  18. Trim the deer hair head to shape it.

  19. Whip finish the head with nano silk thread.
