Tying instructions
Slide a fluorescent orange bead onto the hook, small hole first (this is the egg head). Secure the hook in the vise.
Optionally wrap 10-15 turns of lead wire behind the bead. Secure with thread.
Start thread behind the bead and wrap to the bend.
Select a full, fluffy marabou plume. Tie in at the bend for the tail, extending 1-1.5 shank-lengths.
Tie in a saddle hackle feather at the bend by the tip.
Tie in a length of medium chenille at the bend.
Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the bead. Tie off and trim.
Palmer the saddle hackle forward over the body in 5-7 spiral turns. Tie off behind the bead and trim.
Stroke the hackle fibers rearward. Build a few thread wraps behind the bead to secure everything.
Whip finish behind the bead. Apply head cement to the thread wraps.
