Tying instructions
1. Secure hook in vise, start thread with a jam knot 1.5 hook eyes behind eye.
2. Flatten thread and run back to just down the curve.
3. Tie in 6-8 CDL tailing fibers with 3-4 wraps, tail is 3/4-1 shank length long.
4. Tie in Mono ribbing, cut it even with the jam knot. Flatten thread and secure length of ribbing to side of shank.
5. Flatten thread and built a slightly tapered body back up to jam knot.
6. Open spiral rib body with Mono ribbing. 4-6 ribs for 20/22, 6-8 for 16s and 18s. Snip tag eng close and wrap back over butt end with thread
7. Tie in Medallion Sheeting about the 60% point.
8. Build a very slight dubbing noodle with Superfine. Build a bulbous, football shaped thorax, end with bare thread about one thread width behind hook eye.
9. Tie in Micro Glint for legs, start on close side of shank, tie in with 2 wraps, pull tag to opposite side and tie in. I prefer to double over a 1.5" length of MGT and double up legs.
10. Pull Medallion Sheeting forward over thorax and cup over the top, tie in with 2 wraps. Fold Sheeting back over thorax and secure with 2 more wraps. Trim end of Sheeting, whip finish with 3-4 turns and trim thread.
11. Pull all legs back and trim between thorax and hook barb.
12. Color just the top of the thread head black or brown with sharpie.
13. Pick up Solarez Thin Hard with bodkin, cover top of thread head and Medallion Sheeting with a thin bulb of resin, let resin smooth out and cure with UV light.
14. Fish as a point fly in a 2 fly rig, 18" behind a heavier fly. Smash fish. Grey and Olive are my color preferences.
