Tie in a small bunch of red hackle fibers or a short tuft of red yarn at the bend for the tail.
Tie in a grizzly saddle hackle feather at the bend by the tip.
Tie in a length of black medium chenille at the bend.
Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to the 1/8 point behind the eye. Tie off and trim.
Palmer the grizzly hackle forward over the body in evenly spaced spiral wraps (5-7 turns).
Tie off the hackle and trim the excess.
