Tying instructions
Place the bead on the hook and secure the hook in the vise.
Start the thread behind the bead and wrap thread down the shank to the bend.
Select goose biots for the tail, measuring to the length of the hook shank.
Tie in the tail at the bend with a few wraps.
Trim the excess tail material at an angle.
Tie in the silver wire for ribbing at the tie-in point for the tail, leaving enough excess wire to wrap up the body.
Wrap the thread forward, creating a slim body.
Tie off the thread with 4-5 wraps and helicopter the excess thread off.
Tie in 4 pieces of black crystal flash on top of the hook shank.
Turn the hook upside down in the vise.
Tie in red floss for the wing case.
Dub a small amount of black hare's ear dubbing for the thorax.
Pull the crystal flash legs to the side and secure with a few wraps so they stick straight out.
Pull the red floss over the top to create the wing case and secure with a couple wraps behind the bead.
Lock the wing case in with one wrap behind the bead.
Trim the excess floss as close as possible.
Whip finish behind the bead.
Trim the legs so they stick out to the side.
