Tying instructions
Apply a few wraps of thread behind the eye of the hook. Trim off tag.
Continue wraps to bend of hook creating an even thread base. Tie in hackle fibers for tail.
Cut two foam strips (1.5x hook length, hook-gap width) and secure them at the hook's rear, layering a lighter strip over a darker one.
Dub the hook shank generously with peacock or similar dubbing to create the body.
Pull your first layer of foam forward and cinch behind the eye of the hook. Add rubber legs at this point.
Pull the second foam strip forward, cinching along the same pinch point as the initial strip of foam.
Attach approximately one inch of Z-lon fiber and a grizzly hackle feather at the cinch point.
Wrap hackle and secure. Trim lower hackle fibers for proper flotation.
Trim foam strips to desired length, whip finish and seal with flex cement.
