Tying instructions
Secure the emerger hook in the vise. Start thread behind the eye.
Wrap thread to the bend of the hook.
Tie in a short tuft of amber Z-Lon at the bend for the trailing shuck. Trim to half a shank-length.
Dub a thin noodle of olive Superfine dubbing onto the thread.
Wrap the dubbed abdomen forward to the midpoint of the shank.
Select one or two CDC feathers. Measure the tips to extend slightly beyond the hook eye.
Tie in the CDC feather(s) at the midpoint by the butt ends, tips facing forward over the eye.
Dub a slightly fuller thorax of peacock herl or dark olive dubbing.
Wrap the thorax forward to just behind the eye, covering the CDC tie-in point.
Fold the CDC tips rearward and take a couple of thread wraps to prop them up slightly.
Build a small thread head. Whip finish and apply a tiny drop of head cement to the thread only.
