Tying instructions
Mash the barb on the hook and place the tungsten bead onto the hook, small hole first.
Secure the hook in the tying vise and wrap .015 lead-free wire around the hook shank for 8 wraps.
Apply a small drop of Zap-a-Gap to the hook shank and slide the wire wraps up to the bead.
Start the fluorescent pink thread on the hook shank behind the lead wraps and advance it forward to behind the bead.
Strip 8-10 Coq de Leon fibers from the stem, measure them to form a tail about a hook shank in length, and tie them in at the bend.
Secure the wire to the near side of the hook with tight wraps of tying thread.
Snip 8 natural colored pheasant tail fibers free from the stem, orient them tips first, and secure them just behind the lead wraps.
Take thread wraps down to the base of the tail, then wind the tying thread forward to behind the bead.
Counter wrap the ribbing wire forward in evenly spaced turns to create segmentation and secure it with thread wraps.
Helicopter the wire off close using the tip of your bobbin as a brace.
Position your tying thread at the start of the abdomen and build up a thin tapered dubbing noodle with UV Pink Ice Dub.
Form the thorax and build up a visible thread collar with successive whip finishes.
Snip your tying thread free and apply a liberal dose of head cement to the thread wraps for durability.
