Tying instructions
Attach the hook in the vise and start the thread behind the eye.
Wrap the thread down the hook shank to create a smooth, even body.
Tie in the brown hen hackle at the tie-in point and wrap it forward in close turns to create a palmered hackle body.
Tie off the hackle and trim the excess.
Select a matched pair of mallard wing slips.
Tie in the mallard wing slips over the body, extending back over the bend of the hook.
Form a neat head with the tying thread.
Whip finish and apply head cement.
