Tying instructions
Secure hook in vise.
Apply dubbing wax to the tag end of the thread.
Start thread a couple eye-lengths behind the hook eye.
Wrap a thin thread base back to the bend.
Tie in a piece of medium mirage tinsel at the bend.
Wrap the tinsel forward, butting the turns one in front of the other, to just short of the hook eye.
Wrap the tinsel back over itself to the bend.
Secure the tinsel with a few thread wraps and trim the excess.
Apply dubbing wax to the thread.
Touch dubbing to the waxed thread.
Spin the bobbin to cord the dubbing.
Spiral wrap the dubbed thread forward with tight spirals to just short of the hook eye.
Tie in a grizzly bear macrame yarn a couple eye-lengths behind the hook eye and anchor it down.
Fold the yarn around your scissors in a horizontal loop, even with the body.
Pinch the yarn down and anchor it with several tight wraps.
Trim the butt ends of the yarn.
Tie in a furnace hackle feather on the far side of the hook with the inside of the feather up.
Wrap the hackle from the bottom to the top in parachute turns around the base of both the deer hair wing and the yarn.
Pull the tip of the hackle out between your fingertips and catch it with a few turns of thread.
Whip finish from the bottom up.
Trim the thread.
