Tying instructions
Secure a sewing needle in the vise with the pointy end exposed.
Create a jam knot toward the pointy end of the needle using black Veevus 14/0 thread, leaving a long tag end.
Tie in a half strand of yellow McFlylon on top of the jam knot.
Wrap back over the McFlylon about 9-10mm (about a centimeter).
Trim the front end of the McFlylon short, leaving the back end long.
Wrap thread forward again to the jam knot.
Tie in a thin strip of black 3mm foam (approximately 3mm wide by 1mm thick) at the jam knot.
Wrap the foam back with open spirals to the end of the McFlylon.
Cross-hatch forward over the foam to anchor it.
Apply a thin coat of super glue over the extended body, using a scrap of foam to smear it around and remove excess.
Tie in a 2-inch piece of 0X tippet at the jam knot, folding both ends forward and securing with thread.
Remove the extended body from the needle by pulling on the long tag end of the thread.
Secure a Tiemco 2487 hook, size #14-16 in the vise.
Start the thread just behind the hook eye and wrap back to just between the barb and the point.
Attach the extended body to the hook, leaving a gap of about 2/3 of the hook gap between the body and the hook.
Wrap over the mono to secure the body, then fold the mono back and wrap over it again.
Trim the mono tag ends.
Tie in a strand of barred amber small sexi-legs at the center of its length just below the wing.
Pull one half back to the far side of the hook and wrap back to the base of the body.
Pull the other half down on the near side and anchor it in place.
Maneuver the legs so they are hanging back and down.
Dub a tight strand of black superfine dubbing onto the thread.
Wrap the dubbing between the legs to form a thorax.
Tie in a thin strand of gold rust grey black poly pro macrame yarn for the wing, about 2/3 the length of the body.
Tie in a second wing on the opposite side, using the same amount of material.
Lift the butt ends of the wing and trim them out.
Pull the foam over the top and cinch it down just behind the hook eye.
Whip finish and trim the thread.
Trim the legs to the length of the thorax.
