Tying instructions

  1. Slide the tungsten bead onto the hook, positioning it at the eye.

  2. Start the thread on the hook shank behind the bead, wrapping rearward and snipping off the tag.

  3. Strip a half dozen medium pardo coq de leon fibers, align tips, and measure for a tail one hook shank in length.

  4. Tie in the fibers at the start of the bend, securing them on top of the shank with wraps, and continue wrapping to the bend.

  5. Lift and snip the butt ends of the fibers close.

  6. Secure copper ultra wire to the top of the hook shank, extending to the bead, and end with thread behind the bead.

  7. Snip eight pheasant tail fibers, align tips, and tie them in behind the bead on top of the hook shank, wrapping rearward to the bend.

  8. Wrap the pheasant tail fibers forward in touching turns to form the body, securing them at the bead with firm thread wraps.

  9. Snip the pheasant tail butts close.

  10. Optionally counter wrap the wire forward to the bead, secure with tight thread wraps, and break off close.

  11. Split the thread with a bodkin, insert a small pinch of dubbing between the strands, and spin the bobbin clockwise.

  12. Wrap the dubbing to cover the thread between the body and the bead, pulling fibers back as needed.

  13. Build a short, hotspot thread collar.

  14. Whip finish with superglue on the thread.
