Tying instructions

  1. Slide the bead onto the hook and secure the hook in the vise, ensuring the bead rests behind the hook eye.

  2. Start the 16/0 Vivus Pink thread behind the bead and wrap it back to the bend of the hook, creating a smooth thread base.

  3. Select 3-4 Coq de Leon fibers and align their tips. Measure them to be one shank-length long and tie them in at the bend using pinch wraps.

  4. Secure the tail fibers with additional wraps, ensuring they are aligned with the hook shank, and trim any excess fibers.

  5. Tie in a single strand of UV Pink Crystal Flash at the same tie-in point as the tail, ensuring it is secured with tight wraps.

  6. Wrap the UV Pink Crystal Flash forward in touching turns, creating a smooth and tapered body, and secure it with thread wraps behind the bead.

  7. Trim the excess Crystal Flash and make several securing wraps with the thread to ensure it is locked in place.

  8. Switch to the Semperfli Fluorescent Pink thread and make 3-4 wraps behind the bead to create a small hot spot.

  9. Whip finish the thread behind the bead and trim the thread close to the wraps.

  10. Apply a small dab of black nail polish to the top of the fly, directly behind the bead, to create a wing effect.

  11. Allow the black nail polish to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.

  12. Apply a thin coat of Solarez Bone Dry resin over the entire body, ensuring even coverage for durability.

  13. Cure the resin with a UV light, holding the light over the fly for the recommended time to ensure a hard finish.
