Tying instructions
Place a sewing needle in the vise and cut a 3-inch strip of foam approximately 1/4 inch wide.
Slide the foam onto the needle with approximately 60% of the foam above and 40% below.
Attach thread to the needle immediately in front of the foam.
Fold the foam forward toward the point of the needle and secure.
Make two loose wraps of thread around the foam, then pull tight.
Pull the foam back and wrap thread forward just to the front of the foam.
Repeat the folding and wrapping process to create segments, then whip finish.
Remove the needle and carefully slide the foam body off.
Place the foam body on the hook and secure in the vise.
Build a thread base extending to the bend.
Secure the foam at the rear of the thread base.
Knot rubber legs together and tie them in at the base of the extended body.
Pull the foam back and wrap thread forward to mid-shank.
Apply superglue to the hook shank and secure the foam.
Trim the excess foam from the underside of the hook shank.
Tie in additional legs along the near and far side of the hook.
Create a dubbing noodle and dub from the front of the thorax to the hook eye.
Tie in a synthetic fiber wing extending almost the length of the extended body.
Fold the forward-facing foam back and secure it over the dubbing at the front of the thorax.
Whip finish and trim the foam above the wing to a point.
