Tying instructions
Secure the hook in the vise and start thread behind the eye.
Wrap thread to the bend, building a smooth thread base.
Split two Microfibett tailing fibers and tie in at the bend, splayed apart. Secure with thread wraps between them.
Select a small bunch of fine coastal deer hair. Clean out the underfur and stack in a hair stacker.
Measure the deer hair wing to slightly longer than the hook shank.
Tie in the deer hair at the 1/3 point behind the eye with the tips facing forward and fanned in a 180-degree arc over the top of the hook.
Secure with several tight wraps. Trim the butts at an angle to form a smooth underbody.
Cover the trimmed butts with thread wraps, building a smooth taper back to the tail.
Apply dubbing to the thread and wrap from the tail forward to the wing base, creating a tapered body.
Add a small amount of dubbing in front of the wing to help support it upright.
Whip finish behind the eye. Apply head cement.
Inspect the wing from the front to ensure it fans evenly in a semicircle over the top of the hook.
