Tying instructions
Place a needle in the vise.
Start thread about 1 inch from the end of the needle.
Lay the thread on the needle, coming almost to the point.
Lock over the thread going backwards, then come forwards.
Pack the thread about 1mm from the point.
Tie in tail materials at the bend, extending one shank-length.
Cut a long, slim extruded dicky bow shape from the cream-colored foam, about 4mm wide at the widest point, tapering to 2.5mm.
Cut a V-notch in the center of the foam strip.
Fold the foam strip in half, broad face to broad face, and place it on the needle so the V-notch is at the end of the abdomen.
Secure the foam with thread wraps, creating the segmented body.
Remove the detached body from the needle.
Secure the hook in the vise.
Tie in the detached body at the bend of the hook.
Tie in the wing material at the 2/3 point of the hook shank, with the tips pointing forward.
Tie in the hackle feathers at the 2/3 point of the hook shank.
Wrap the hackle around the hook shank, creating a parachute effect.
Tie off the hackle and trim the excess.
Fold the foam tags back and tie them down at the head of the fly.
Whip finish and add head cement.
Use a dark brown marker to add markings to the abdomen and thorax.
