Tying instructions
Wrap lead wire around the hook shank to form the foundation of the thorax.
Start the thread just behind the hook eye and run it over the lead to secure, then take it down the length of the hook shank.
Tie in the tails, about the same length as the body, using 7-8 brown and speckled partridge fibers.
Tie down the tail butts all the way up towards the thorax.
Tie in the stripped peacock quill.
Dub the abdomen with creamy felted red fox underfur, keeping it fairly slim.
Counter-rib the abdomen with the peacock quill, wrapping in the opposite direction to the dubbing.
Tie in the turkey wing case.
Dub the thorax with natural premium seal's fur, making it shaggier than the abdomen.
Tease out the seal's fur to represent the legs.
Fold the turkey wing case forward to make a thorax cover.
Secure the wing case with a few touching turns of thread back to the abdomen.
Trim away the excess wing case.
Whip finish at the eye of the hook.
Trim the thread and thorax cover.
Brush the legs and gills downwards for a supple moving impression in the water.
