Tying instructions
Secure the hook in the vise.
Start thread wraps two eye-lengths behind the hook eye and wrap down to the bend of the hook.
Select a silver badger hackle feather and remove the barbs next to the stem.
Tie in the hackle at the hook bend.
Select Hareline Hare-Tron Dubbin in burnt orange and apply it to the thread.
Wrap the dubbing forward to create the body, stopping behind the hackle tie-in point.
Palmer the hackle forward, creating segmentation in the body.
Tie off the hackle and cut the excess.
Select a Premo Deer Hair Strip in olive and remove the underfur with a hair stacker.
Measure the deer hair to be the length of the hook shank and trim the butt ends.
Tie in the deer hair wing, making sure to hold it tightly.
Wrap the thread through the deer hair to the hook eye.
Expose the hook eye.
Use a whip finish tool to create a 4-5 turn whip finish.
Seat the knot and cut the thread.
Separate the wing material and use a razor holder to form the head.
Apply Loon's water-based head cement to the head.
Clean the hook eye.
