Tying instructions

  1. Secure hook in vise and start thread at the eye, leaving a long tag end hanging off the back of the hook.

  2. Tie in two mayfly tails (micro fibbets) at the bend, on top of the hook shank, with the tails extending one shank-length.

  3. Draw the tails up and split them with your fingers.

  4. Secure the split tails with thread wraps.

  5. Trim the excess tail material.

  6. Build a slight taper to the body by wrapping the thread back over itself.

  7. Select two natural dun CDC feathers and match the tips.

  8. Tie in the CDC feathers as a wing at the 2/3 point, with the wing extending one shank-length.

  9. Trim the excess CDC feather material close to the tie-in point.

  10. Clean up the tie-in point with thread wraps.

  11. Lift the CDC wing up and make several wraps in front of the wing to post it.

  12. Pull the CDC wing to the sides to fan it out.

  13. Dub a sparse thorax with light brown superfine dubbing.

  14. Whip finish the fly.

  15. Trim the thread.
