Tying instructions
Secure the hook in the vise.
Start the thread about an eye's length back from the eye.
Wrap the thread down the shank to create a smooth base.
Select an even amount of Coq de Leon fibers.
Tie in the tail fibers, about a hook length long.
Dub the rusty brown beaver dubbing onto the thread.
Wrap the dubbing forward to create a thin body, leaving room for the wing.
Select a clump of long white deer hair.
Clean and stack the deer hair.
Tie in the deer hair wing, compressing it with tight wraps.
Split the wing by pulling half the fibers to one side and half to the other.
Secure the split wing with figure-eight wraps.
Trim the butts of the deer hair close to the hook.
Dub a small amount of beaver dubbing onto the thread.
Wrap the dubbing to cover the butts of the deer hair and form a neat thorax.
Whip finish the thread behind the eye.
Trim the thread.
