Tying instructions
Slide the gold tungsten bead onto the hook.
Secure hook in vise and start thread behind the bead.
Tie in red flash at the tie-in point to create a tag or hot spot.
Tie in 8-10 Coq de Leon barbs at the tie-in point, extending one shank-length beyond the bend.
Pull the tail to length and clip the ends.
Tie in a couple of pheasant tail barbs at the tie-in point, tips first.
Tie in copper wire at the tie-in point for ribbing.
Wrap the pheasant tail barbs forward to create the abdomen, tie off, and snip free.
Counter wrap the copper wire forward for durability, tie off, and helicopter the excess free.
Build the thorax with peacock ice dub.
Tie in a slate gray CDC feather tip first, wrap it twice to create a soft hackle, tie off the stem, and snip the excess free.
Whip finish the fly twice.
Clean it up a little bit and make sure the CDC is where it belongs.
