Tying instructions

  1. Slide tungsten bead onto hook and secure in vise.

  2. Apply super glue to the hook shank.

  3. Wrap lead wire around the shank, from behind the bead down the shank. Push wire up to bead.

  4. Use scissors to make the tips of the wire flush.

  5. Start thread behind the bead and wrap back to the bend.

  6. Tie in pine squirrel strip at the bend, with fibers extending one shank-length beyond the bend.

  7. Wrap thread back around the base of the pine squirrel strip, like a parachute post.

  8. Stroke the fibers back and tie in the polar chenille.

  9. Wrap the polar chenille forward to just behind the bead, stroking fibers back after each wrap.

  10. Tie off the polar chenille.

  11. Tie in the black India hen.

  12. Wrap the black India hen forward.

  13. Tie off the black India hen.

  14. Add a small amount of black UV ice dub to the thread.

  15. Wrap the dubbing forward to clean up the front of the fly.

  16. Whip finish and add super glue to the head.
