Tying instructions
Place a silver bead on the hook and secure the hook in the vise.
Start thread behind the bead and wrap thread down the shank to the bend.
Select a few fibers of Coq de Leon for the tail.
Tie in the tail at the bend, extending one shank-length.
Trim the excess tail material.
Tie in sculpin olive wire at the back of the hook, sliding it into the slot to hold it in place.
Tie the wire straight down the back of the hook shank.
Wrap the thread forward to just shy of the tail.
Wrap the thread forward to just behind the bead to cover the wire tie-in.
Space the wire evenly through the body of the fly up to the bead.
Capture the wire with the thread behind the bead.
Helicopter the wire to break it off.
Secure the wire end with a few thread wraps.
Apply a small amount of UV resin to the thread wraps behind the bead.
Spread the resin around the thread wraps.
Cure the resin with a UV light.
Apply a tiny pinch of peacock black ice dubbing to the thread.
Wrap the dubbing behind the bead to create a sparse thorax.
Whip finish behind the bead.
Trim any longer dubbing fibers.
