Tying instructions
Secure hook in vise and start thread behind the eye.
Wrap thread to the bend of the hook, building an even thread base.
Select and stack a small bunch of elk hair. Measure to about one shank length.
Tie in elk hair at the bend as the tail, tips extending rearward.
Tie in one strand of pearl flashabou at the base of the tail for the rib.
Dub a thin noodle of hare's ear dubbing onto the thread.
Wrap dubbed thread forward about 2/3 of the shank, creating a slightly tapered body.
Spiral the flashabou rib forward in 4-5 evenly spaced turns. Secure and trim.
Select and stack a clump of elk hair for the parachute post. Tie in upright at the 2/3 point with several tight wraps.
Post the elk hair upright and secure with wraps around the base of the post.
Tie in a grizzly hackle feather at the base of the elk hair post.
Dub hare's ear dubbing and build a slightly thicker thorax around the base of the post, forward to the eye.
Wrap the hackle parachute-style around the elk hair post, 3-5 turns working downward.
Capture the hackle tip with thread and secure. Trim excess.
Build a small neat thread head and whip finish.
Apply a small drop of head cement to the thread head.
