Tying instructions

  1. Place copper bead on hook shank

  2. Start thread behind the bead

  3. Attach 3-4 Coq de Leon fibers for the tail, about a hook shank in length. Spin thread counterclockwise to flatten it, then secure the tail fibers on top of the hook shank.

  4. Attach one strand of Hends 233 Krystal Flash Dark Brown under the hook shank between the bead and the thread. Secure with one half turn of thread.

  5. Spin thread counterclockwise to flatten it. Wrap thread up the hook shank to the back of the bead, then back down to the tail. This creates a tapered body.

  6. Whip finish behind the bead (2 turns) and cut thread.

  7. Apply Solarez Bone-dry UV resin to the body and cure with UV light.

  8. Apply UV black resin to the top of the fly to create a wing case and cure with UV light.

  9. Apply a thin coat of Hard as Hell head cement to the wing case for durability and shine.
