Tying instructions
Secure the big game hook in the vise.
Start the thread at the front 1/3 of the hook shank and create a thread base.
Attach large dumbbell eyes on top of the shank using figure-eight wraps, close to the hook eye.
Extend the thread base rearward to the bend of the hook.
Tie in 4-6 white streamer hackle feathers (3 per side) at the bend, extending beyond the hook.
Tie in 4-8 strands of pearl Krystal Flash on top of the hackle tail, extending slightly beyond the hackle.
Rotate the vise and tie in a thick bunch of white bucktail just ahead of the tail. The tips should extend 1/3-1/2 of the tail length.
Rotate the vise back and tie in a similarly sized bunch of white bucktail along the top of the shank.
Wrap the thread forward and tie in 4-8 strands of pearl Krystal Flash along each side of the shank.
Select a bunch of bucktail fibers from the base of the bucktail and secure them at the rear of the eyes.
Rotate the vise and repeat step 10 along the underside of the shank.
Wrap the thread to the front of the eyes and repeat the process with another bunch of bucktail from the base of the tail.
Rotate the vise once more and secure one final bunch of bucktail along the top of the shank.
Whip finish, trim the thread, and apply head cement to complete the fly.
